A photo of 3 women in Repeal jumpers defiantly sitting behind Leo Varadkar in Belfast has gone viral

IN AN ACT of solidarity with the campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment, three women sat behind Leo Varadkar during visit to Queen’s University in Belfast this morning.

Impossible for the Taoiseach to ignore, these three women were wearing black Repeal jumpers and sitting right beside him.

It made it pretty hard to film or photograph Leo without getting the women’s message across.

One of the most important questions the women asked the Taoiseach was to ensure that the referendum would be held at a time when students would be able to vote.

They also questioned Leo Varadkar on what month a referendum relating to Ireland’s abortion laws would be held.

The Taoiseach commented that he is yet to set a date:

I take the point and get the message that young people would like the referendum at a time when they are all in the country, so we will take that into account.

The three women involved were applauded for their move:
